** Be sure to have the required DISCOVERY PASS **
(We cannot allow vehicle operation on DNR land if a DISCOVERY PASS is not displayed from your rear view mirror at the time of entrance)
Discover Passes available at the Shell Station located on Holly Rd HERE.
To drive up to Horse Camp for gear drop-off and parking you must enter through GM1. Please adhere to the 15 mph speed limit while transiting the gravel road to Horse Camp and be aware of other trail users (pedestrians, equestrian, and bikers) along the route. Please DO NOT speed! DNR and law enforcement presence will be on the mountain to check speed and DISCOVERY passes.
Arriving Pre-Event (Camping)
We encourage you to join us for camping pre and post event! We’ll have a bonfire and plenty of space reserved for campers at no cost. If you do intend on camping the Friday night before the event, gate access leading to Horse Camp will not open until 4 p.m. Crew will be on site for set-up and can assist our out of town participants on a case-by-case basis if needed.
If you plan on camping, you'll be able to park your vehicle adjacent to your campsite. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MOVE YOUR VEHICLE UNTIL AFTER THE COURSE IS CLEAR AT 5:30 ON SATURDAY!
Arriving Event Day (Not camping on site)
When you arrive at Horse Camp you’ll be directed to an area for gear drop off then flagged to Rock Quarry for parking. Be advised overflow parking will be available at Gold Creek Trailhead, but it is a 2-3 mile hike to Horse Camp. It is recommended that day-of arrivals be at the Horse Camp no later than 6am to ensure parking is available at the Quarry.
Course Maps via MAPRIKA
In addition to standard course markings, all three loops of the course have been uploaded to MAPRIKA to allow participants unfamiliar with Green Mountain to utilize the app to ensure they’re always on course. Download the app (shows as GPS on Ski in the Android and Apple App Store), search for “Green Monster Duathlon” and download the three separate maps. Once downloaded, cell service is not required to provide your GPS fix on the map! PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE APP AND MAPS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL AT GREEN MOUNTAIN! Cell service is limited once in the forest.
Please add firstname.lastname@example.org as a "friend" on MAPRIKA. "KAOS ACTUAL" will track participant progress and locations on the course utilizing the "Nearby Friends" feature during the event as cell service allows.

If possible please bring cans to avoid broken glass upon accidents.
We’ll have a portable restroom available for use and a wash station in addition to the vault toilets at Horse Camp. We understand you’ll have trash, we just ask that you limit it due to the surrounding nature of this event.
More IMPORTANT event info
Please remember this is NOT a closed course. We have taken measures to inform area trail users of our event, but we cannot control the traffic on Green Mountain for everyone. Know that you will likely encounter other hikers, runners, bikers, and even equestrian traffic. If you should interact with another user, always YIELD and use caution. We want an injury free event and everyone to be happy on the mountain during this event. Please be courteous of others.
Even though you’ve already electronically signed a waiver during the UltraSignup registration process, we do require physical waivers for both DNR and our event insurance provider EMBA. We will have them on-site and all team members must sign them before we can release event packets and bibs.
Aid stationed will be available. Stocking is minimal but we’ll have the typical favorite nutritional event items to get you through. We stress that you bring extra nutrition you need for this event. We’d also like to take this time to emphasis the importance of “event trash awareness”. If you do use Gu’s or gel nutrition products or other supplements, please be aware of your surroundings and the impact it will have on the environment. Take a few extra seconds to stuff your trash in a spare pocket until you return to transition and we’ll gladly dispose of it for you. We ask that you not dispose of wrappers on the trail.
This event does not have an official photographer. We’re enlisting local talent on a volunteer basis in hope of a turnout. We ask that you share your event photos with us and we’ll do the same. We’ve created a hashtag for use and you can directly upload pictures to the event Facebook page.
